We’ve probably all been guilty of overreacting when it comes to relatively minor medical symptoms.
This was certainly the case for Twitter user Mark Shrayber, who took to the platform to share his embarrassing tale, Mirror UK reports.
Mark became concerned when his legs seemed blue in colour and after looking up his symptoms on a popular health website, he decided to pay the emergency room a visit.
"Went to the ER because my legs have turned blue and Web MD says I have deep vein thrombosis,” he tweeted.
"Was this it? The big one?”
It turns out, Mark had forgotten to wash his new jeans before wearing them.
While some Twitter users laughed at his misfortune, others came forward to share their own self-diagnosis stories that had gone wrong.
"Went through a phase where I was seriously concerned I had a brain tumour or something because everything I ate – including things like pasta with marinara sauce – tasted like peppermint. Finally realised a bottle of peppermint extract had spilt all over my pots and pans,” one user wrote.
"Reminds me of the time I was about to take my six-month-old to the ER because his foot was purple,” a mom tweeted.
"Turned out somebody forgot to add on his daycare sheet that they were doing footprint painting that day."
