A picture of a mom and her two kids, who were involved in a deadly collision with a 2.7m long alligator, has been released.

Amber Stanley, 24, from Nassau County, US, was driving home with her son Jack, 4, and daughter Autumn, 2, after a weekend getaway when the accident occurred on Monday May, 7.

According to Mirror News, in the early hours of the morning Amber’s car hit the massive alligator in the middle of a busy highway in South Carolina, US. The car then swerved, hit a tree and burst into flames killing the mom and her kids.

When Amber’s devastated husband, Josh Stanley, phoned his wife on Monday morning and couldn’t get through to her, he knew something was wrong.

A few hours later, Josh received the tragic news that his wife and kids had died in the horrific car accident, reports People.

"I broke down," says Josh. "They were my life."

"Everything we had was built around each other. We were building our family up. I was just crying."

The distressed dad told Action News Jax, he’s still trying to process the death of his family.

"Everybody keeps saying, 'if you need anything let me know' . . . I'd love to have my family back, but obviously nobody can do that," he says.

"I’ll be walking around, and I’ll just like see somebody out of the corner of my eye, like, ‘Oh that’s Amber,’ but I know it’s not.

"That’s just the first thing my brain goes to...

"Or I hear some kid say 'dad' or something."

Josh also revealed the heartbreaking last conversation he had with his wife and young kids.

"The last thing I said [to Amber] was, ‘I love you and I'll talk to you later’.

"The last time I talked to my kids was when I was leaving. I hugged them and said I loved them and I'd see them in a week – and I was going to miss them," he says.

According to The Sun, Josh, who couldn’t join his family on vacation because he had work training, said he and Amber had been together for 10 years and she was his soulmate.

Plans for a memorial for the family are currently in progress.
