A Port Elizabeth woman narrowly escaped with her life after a truck crashed into her car on Tuesday afternoon.
According to police reports, the 47-year-old truck driver parked his truck in Potgieter Street while picking up his child from school, when he returned, his truck had crashed into another car.
Police spokesperson Captain Sandra Janse van Rensburg said: “The truck driver noticed that the truck had rolled forward and collided with an Opel Adam that was travelling on Diaz Road, towards CJ Langenhoven Drive.”
A 26-year-old woman had to be removed from the vehicle using hydraulic tools. Soon after the accident, the woman was put on advanced life support before she was taken to hospital.
Mount Road police are investigating a case of reckless and negligent driving.
“Currently the case is still being investigated, once the investigation has been concluded we will take docket to the public prosecutor and will be informed of a decision to prosecute then. At this stage, we have not made any arrests,” Janse van Rensburg told Move!.
