In the fight against crime, mugshots aren’t typically meant to be comical. But when a territorial police force in Wales shared a mugshot of a wanted man, social media users couldn’t help but make jokes about his strange hairstyle.

Last week, Gwent Police posted a mugshot of Jermaine Taylor (21) along with an online appeal.

But instead of the public helping police locate the wanted man, the post was quickly inundated with comments about Jermaine’s unique hairstyle and receding hairline, Mirror UK reports.

“He walked out of the complex at precisely 7.30pm, and his hairline at 7.45pm,” one person joked.

“Push his release date back further than his hairline, that should teach him,” another added.

“Looks like his hairline is on the run too,” another chipped in, adding, “Who’s done his hair? Moses?”

There were more than 84 000 comments and 14 000 shares on the post before the police were forced to delete it, according to the New Zealand Herald.

Following the comments, the cops admitted they were amused by a lot of the good-humoured banter but urged people to stop mocking the suspect because some comments took things too far.

“We’re really grateful to everyone who’s assisting us in locating Jermaine Taylor, and we must admit a few of these comments have made us laugh,” Gwent Police said.

“However, when the line is crossed from being funny to abusive, we do have to make sure we’re responsible and remind people to be careful about what they write on social media.

“Please remember that harassing, threatening and abusing people on social media can be against the law.”
