A SEXUAL relationship can be destroyed by your man’s comments about your private part being too big for him. Counsellor Alessandra Newton looks at how this could make you feel and the effects of such statements.
NO TRUTH IN THE STATEMENT
Alessandra says no research has proven that a woman’s vagina can stretch to the point where there can no longer be sexual pleasure. “Even after having a baby, women can still enjoy sex like every other woman,” she says. Alessandra says unfriendly comments from your man about your v-jay jay or your ability to give sexual pleasure can’t be pleasant to take in. “You may feel devastated, ashamed, or even lose confidence when it comes to being intimate,” she says.
WHAT CAUSES THE PRIVATE PART TO STRETCH
Dr Sophia Mokoka says the private part is made out of collagen, which is a connective tissue which causes it to be strong and flexible. Over time, the collagen fibres can grow weak, causing the private part to lose flexibility. She adds that pregnancy and private part trauma caused by constant tearing of the private part during birth can also cause it to lose its strength.
GETTING HELP
Dr Sophia recommends Kegel exercises to tighten sexual muscles and improve sexual pleasure. These are exercises done to strengthen the pelvic floor muscles.
