A devastated young woman has spoken candidly about giving birth to her stillborn baby boy at 32 weeks.

Kristy Watson from Victoria, Australia, was overjoyed about being pregnant after suffering three miscarriages, Daily Mail reports.

But throughout her pregnancy the 20-year-old experienced swelling in her face, hands, and feet and even had blurry vision.

When she was 26 weeks’ pregnant, Kristy consulted doctors about her pain but she was allegedly sent home with Panadol painkillers and told her symptoms were normal, Kids Spot reports.

But at 32 weeks Kristy, who had undiagnosed pre-eclampsia, nearly died and learnt that her baby had died in her womb.

“I was told I had severe pre-eclampsia,” Kristy said.

“My kidneys were failing, my blood pressure was so high it nearly caused me to have a stroke or seizure. My body was fighting so hard for too long to keep my boy alive that it took his life in order to keep mine.

“I didn’t know every detail about pre-eclampsia. I knew my best friend had experienced it with her little girl but I didn’t know how sick my body actually got.

“The worst thing is that I didn’t get told until I had the nurse sit on the end of my bed at 32 weeks and 5 days in front of my ultrasound to tell me my precious little Kaycen no longer had a heartbeat.”

The Australian took to Facebook to open up about her heartbreaking experience.

“No words you ever want to hear, no words you ever imagine hearing so far into your pregnancy.

“If only they’d done an ultrasound that day to see that my placenta was failing, if only they’d done my blood to see how toxic it really was at that stage.

“It may not have changed the outcome of what happened but the thing is I will never ever know.

“I have lost my gorgeous little boy due to the system letting me down and not listening to me when I knew something was wrong.

“I had to watch my family be so heartbroken over the loss of their nephew, grandson and cousin and myself because no one cared enough to help when I needed it.

“I don’t want to play the blame game but to be so neglected and feel like I wasn’t listened to by people in whose hands I put the life I was creating . . .  To be let down as much as I was isn’t something I would wish on my worst enemy.”

Kristy said she shared her story in the hope that other expecting moms will look after their bodies and have regular check-ups, whatnews2day reports.

“Please listen to your bodies,” she wrote.

“I know some people don’t have to go through the stress I had to go through in the weeks leading up to my son’s death because of the drama people were causing me.

“People even have to go through something worse, but these little lives we create inside our wonderful bodies rely on us. We have to look after ourselves. I couldn’t imagine any other mother having to feel like they failed their child as I’ve had too.

“I know my little Kaycen will live on through me and everyone whose hearts he touched.”
