THE finalists of the KZN Top Model Competition were recently announced. One of the finalists, Wynett Murray, spoke to the Fever’s Purnal Poonusamy to elaborate more on the competition and what it entails.

  • Can you tell me a bit about yourself?
  • I am Wynett Murray (34), from Amanzimtoti. I work for myself as an outsourced contractor for a media company as a quality controller and client liaison with national retailers. Assistant admin as well. My hobbies are modelling, photography and bodyboarding.

PP: Can you give us some insight on the competition?

WM: The competition is all about showcasing talent in KZN mainly: modelling, fashion, dance, music and poetry. Stakeholders from various sectors will come and witness this talent from the KZN society.

PP: What motivated you to participate?

WM: My primary reason for joining this pageant is to develop and boost my self-esteem. I made the decision to take part KZN TOP MODEL 2018 because I believe in what it stands for and I want to use this platform to become a voice to motivate others.

PP: When you were selected as finalist, what were some of the key roles you had to fulfil?

WM: Social responsibility and community leader, and selling tickets for the main event on December 1.

PP: If you win the title what is the next step for you?

WM: I will get more exposure and get the opportunity to compete in other pageants. I will also have a platform to be more involved in community work.

PP: What do you plan on doing within the community if you win?

WM: I plan on looking at an NPO in the Amanzimtoti area that I can support with donations, visibility in the community and support where needed and where I can help.

PP: What are some of the charities you worked with in relation with the competition or on your own?

WM: I have recently been to Elders Voice Amanzimtoti. I spend some time with the elderly and given them some eats.

PP: Can you tell us a bit about your family life?

WM: I am a single mom of two wonderful kids. They are very supportive of my modelling career. We spend most of our free time on the beach.

PP: How do you juggle family, work, the competition and charity work?

WM: I am lucky enough to work flexi hours and therefore I am able to fit charity work, family time and modelling in.

PP: What are your plans for the future?

WM: Furthering my modelling career where possible.

PP: Do you have a message to the community?

WM: Working together you achieve more than working alone. It so much more than just a title. It is women empowerment and believing in yourself while spreading good will across the country. I want to inspire everyone to be kind, to be confident, and to most importantly love one another. We are all unique individuals.

PP: Anything you would like to add.

WM: I would like to thank my family and friends and my modelling school, Zeit Models, for their support. Most of all, Thank you to our heavenly Father for helping me through my journey. I will be focusing on a fundraiser R3000 or more for a charity of my choice in Amanzimtoti.

Any donations towards my fundraiser will help please. To help with my charity work you can got hold of me on 074 388 5293.
