THE meat market with a difference, Longbury, recently decided to expand their services after much deliberation on numerous requests made by their loyal customers.
This idea was further explored in a survey, in which the results favoured expanding the Longbury brand into the South Coast.
Keeping in line with their slogan, what sets Longbury apart from the rest is not only their selection of meat cuts and products but also the staff they employ. They adhere to the concept that it’s the people that represent the company that makes the difference. This will ensure that “satisfied customers are our best security”.
Speaking on why they chose the seaside town of Amanzimtoti, the management of Longbury stated that the town of Toti has a tranquil ambiance that caught their attention and they are hopeful it will brighten the economic growth for the town.
Having being in existence since 1984, Longbury Meat Market is a family business with five generations of history in the meat trade, starting with the original Deens Butchery in Sparks Road Overport.
Speaking on their business, the owners of Longbury said: “Everyone that knows the name Longbury knows that we are synonymous with good quality meat and meat products. We are not too focused on what others in the meat industry do as much as we concentrate on trend setting so others can follow in our footsteps. We are the pioneers in setting butchery standards, now becoming more of a boutique store environment.”
The butchery’s first major leap in this direction was in 1999, when they opened their now main branch in Phoenix, moving it from the traditional type butchery store to a modern boutique style store just down the road.
Longbury sources only the best quality Halaal meat and they constantly strive to seek out only those abattoirs that meet their strict hygiene and quality levels, and who also constantly participate in breeding and grading competitions.
