What’s new at the movies

PREHISTORIC monster shark is the main attraction for full throttle action in Nu Metro’s Xtreme and 4DX cinemas at Nu Metro Cinemas this week.

See the film on one of South Africa’s largest cinema screens in Xtreme — along with powerful Dolby Atmos sound (including overhead speakers), recliner seating and crystal-clear digital projection in 3D.

Face the terrifying 75-foot-long shark up close and personal in multi-sensory 4DX, only at Nu Metro. Be submersed in the action with the advanced motion seats and environmental effects such as wind and water.

THE MEG (16 HLV)

A deep-sea submersible, part of an international undersea observation program, has been attacked by a massive creature, previously thought to be extinct, and now lies disabled at the bottom of the deepest trench in the Pacific — with its crew trapped inside. With time running out, expert deep sea rescue diver Jonas Taylor (Jason Statham) is recruited by a visionary Chinese oceanographer, against the wishes of his daughter Suyin, to save the crew — and the ocean itself — from this unstoppable threat: a prehistoric 75-foot-long shark known as the Megalodon. He must confront his fears and risk his own life to save everyone trapped below — bringing him face to face with the greatest and largest predator of all time.

CHARMING (PG)

Cursed as a child, Prince Philip Charming compulsively proposes to every woman he encounters, leaving a trail of lovesick and scorned lovers that want to wreak vengeful havoc on the kingdom. The king gives Prince Charming an ultimatum: Find true love before turning 21 or lose all claim to the throne. Charming is a delightful animated musical comedy film, which features the voices of Demi Lovato, Wilmer Valderrama, Sia, Ashley Tisdale, G.E.M., and Avril Lavigne.
