Flying Squad busts ‘robbers’ in Nyanga

Three suspects were arrested on Tuesday 7 August at about 10:15 after they robbed a woman of her valuables in Delft.

The Western Cape Flying Squad was on patrol in the corner of Lansdowne and Symphony roads when officers spotted a VW Jetta 4 with no registration plates. The car was reportedly hijacked by four suspects on Friday in Browns Farm, Nyanga.

When the officers signalled for the vehicle to stop the driver sped off and a chase ensued. The vehicle eventually stopped and three occupants attempted to run. All three were caught. One suspect was found in possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. Officers also recovered a red handbag, from the woman robbed in Delft, and a police reflector jacket in the boot.
