A 33-year-old man will be back in the dock tomorrow (Friday 18 January) for the murder of a man in Asanda Village at the weekend.
According to Sergeant Mthokozisi Gama, spokesperson for Lwandle police, the man was arrested for the murder of a man, which took place in the early hours of Saturday 12 January.
He made his first appearance in the Strand Magistrate’s Court on Monday (14 January).
Gama says the fatal stabbing allegedly took place in Celiwe Street, Asanda Village at 02:46. “Police were called to attend to the scene after a 32-year-old man was stabbed to death after an argument with the suspect,” he says.
“When the officers arrived on the scene, the victim was found lying in a pool of blood with a stab wound to his chest. They also found the knife used to kill him, lying next to him.”
Paramedics arrived on the scene and the victim was pronounced dead, Gama added. “A case of murder was opened and the investigation immediately commenced. We managed to trace the suspect and he was arrested,” he explained.
“During the suspect’s appearance in court on Monday, he confessed to the murder of the 32-year-old man.”
The case was postponed until tomorrow.
