One quad’s health a concern, all still in hossie

The Khayelitsha quadruplets and their mother, Inga Mafenuka, will remain in hospital indefinately after one of the babies fell sick.

The mother was expected to be discharged last week, but the decision was reversed when one of the kids failed to meet the required minimum weight.

Health MEC Nomafrench Mbombo then announced that they would be discharged at the start of this week.

However, when City Vision spoke to the mother yesterday, she was still in hospital and was unsure when she would be discharged.

Inga Mafenuka made headlines in July after giving birth to four babies Buchule, Bunolo, Bubele and Bungcwele.

“The doctors have noticed something in Buchule’s blood and asked that we remain in hospital so they can monitor the problem,” she said.

She said the doctors are performing more tests to determine the problem.

She, however said it is not the same baby that caused the delays in their release but another one this time around.

According to earlier reports Bubele weighed in at just 1.5kg, which caused delays in their release.

Mafenuka said she can’t wait to go home.

“As much as I would love to go home, I don’t have a choice because my babies need to be 100 percent when we go out,” she said.
