Rise up for this year’s EduKite competition

Learners from primary schools and schools for learners with special educational needs have an opportunity to “Rise Up” and win in the EduKite competition at the 24th Cape Town International Kite Festival, organised by Cape Mental Health.

The event is set to take place in Muizenberg on 27 and 28 October.

Entry to the competition is free. Every team that enters is given a set of four blank kite skins to illustrate with their interpretation of the 2018 theme “Rise Up”.

“We believe everyone is born with the potential to ‘Rise Up’ beyond life’s circumstances,” says Ingrid Daniels, director of Cape Mental Health. “We encourage learners to explore the challenges they face and how they can rise above them.”

Each team brings their kites to the festival on Saturday 27 October for judging and a mass fly with the other children.

The prizes are R3000 (first place), R2000 (second place) and R1000 (third place). These are awarded in both the categories (primary school and schools for learners with special educational needs).

To enter, email events@cmh.org.za before 7 September or call Kim Simpson at Cape Mental Health on 021 447 9040.
