Durban kwaito trio releases hit song
DURBAN’S newest musical trio Mangols has released their mainstream single hit song Amagalan, which loosely translated means to be over excited and happy because all things align for your greater good.
The trio is made up of Mlondi Khuzwayo from Verulam, Nathi Dlangamandla from uMlazi and Sphamandla Ngcobo from Chesterville.
Khuzwayo said: “When we recorded the song, we had gone through so many challenges that we were at a point where we were immune to intense pain and disappointment. We had fun with the song and it gives off a feeling of being happy and content with oneself.”
The song, they say, is proof that Durban kwaito is not a genre of no content or lack of content in terms of lyrics; as it has been recently perceived.
Ngcobo said: “We are songwriters and we share our experiences, social ills and what is happening around us through music.”
The trio said they are inspired by Big Nuz and they want to have staying power within the competitive and ever-changing music industry.
Dlangamandla said: “We have to make our music careers work because we have no plan B. We have come too far to let anything that comes along now discourage us.
“We have more songs and music to inspire the young and old and we can’t wait to keep sharing it with our fans.”
They said that the Durban kwaito wave is not only about music but incorporates fashion, a movement, and inspiring the next generation of musicians.
Their aim is to empower the youth and those who are looking at them and want to follow in the same footsteps.
Mongols are currently on a nationwide single promotion tour. -Supplied
