Sea of Pink floods the Durban Promenade

THE Totalsports Ladies Race was held on Sunday, July 22 at Kingspark Athletic Stadium.

The race had an amazing participation with 3 930 entrants in the 10 km and 2 894 entrants in the 5km race.

Checkout Verulam Falcons members made their presence felt as some of the ladies participated in the race while some members assisted the race organisers with hydration at two of three water tables.

Celiwe Ndaba, Ntokozo Ndlovu, Thandi Lusaseni, Agnes Sangweni, Eddie Singh and Falcons’ juniors helped to hand out coke and water to the participants.

Rogani Moodley, fresh from finishing her first Victoria Falls half marathon, led the Falcons ladies in the 10km. Despite being one-week away from her milestone 60th birthday, Moodley showed agility and stamina to put in a sterling performance of 1:07.

She was followed shortly by her training partner Sharon Sivapurshad. Sthembile Mkhize joined the club about five months back and has been growing ever since. She ran her first ladies race in a time of 1:18. Despite the absence of Falcons top walker Celiwe Ndaba, team Falcons was well represented in the walkers’ category.

Leading was Jay Fakir followed by Zaida Adam, Zubedia Hoopdhar, Fawzia Kadwa, Yugushree Thaver and Mumtaz Sayed. - Supplied.
