A KOKSTAD shop selling cellphones and other items was robbed of R26 500 worth of stock last Friday.
Two men allegedly held staff at gunpoint at 8 am and fled the scene with televisions and cellphones. Police are investigating a case of business robbery.
Police are also investigating cases of housebreakings in Shayamoya and Bhongweni areas.
SAPS spokesman Captain Dumisani Ncongo said clothes worth R7 550 were stolen from a house in Shayamoya after thieves broke down a door on Friday evening.
At the housebreaking reported in the Bhongweni area, two televisions and electric stoves were stolen. The house owner was not present when the burglary occurred.
“Another Kokstad man left the house with doors and windows closed. When he returned home the next day from work he discovered stolen items and broken doors,” said Ncongo.
He said three other cases of housebreakings were opened in Kokstad.
He called on people to strengthen security in their yards and establish street patrols. — Supplied
