THE South African Football Association (SAFA) Harry Gwala Region is set to open the new season of the South African Breweries (SAB) League next month.
As part of preparing the start of season, Bhubesi FC has introduced Xola “Amonike” Silevu as the new head coach for the team. The team also made other changes in management.
Former team manager Zama Ngubo was appointed as Public Relations Officer while Loyiso Xhelithole was appointed as team manager.
The team played in the SAB League for the first time during the previous season after having played in the Kokstad Local Football Association league for the past three years. Players played well in the SAB league and, as a result, the team secured second place with 34 points.
“I want to make sure that players gain lots of training and all vacant positions are filled. I also want the team to get quality players who can add value for the team to win the SAB league,” said Silevu who has worked for several teams.
Silevu played for teams like Kokstad Liverpool FC, African Warriors FC and Kokstad Swallows and has coached other teams. He is also helping local football players get opportunities for national teams. In 2015, he completed his “B” licence in coaching and is certain that Bhubesi FC will make a difference in the league.
“After watching Bhubesi FC games in the last season, I was very impressed with the performance of players.
“In the past weeks we played friendly games in Kokstad and, when the league is opened, we want to show strength,” said Ngubo.
