ECONOMIC Freedom Fighters (EFF) have elected five new Harry Gwala regional leaders and 10 additional members at a congress held in Umzimkhulu last Sunday. The party has been operating with interim structures since 2012.
Dr Mbuyiseni Ndlozi, Primrose Sonti and Tseko Mafanya were the national executive members of the party who attended the congress.
The top five elected leadership include chairperson Linda Mbele, deputy chairperson Lindelani Mncwabe, secretary Nomfundo Mpayipheli, deputy secretary Shannon Vesaisie and treasurer Nkululeko Mazeka.
The party has 56 branches in the Harry Gwala District. Mbele said the party is preparing to launch five branches.
He said the party has increased membership drastically in the past six years.
“We want to make sure that there is unity and trust with the people of Harry Gwala District.
From next week, we will host several meetings to prepare for next year’s general elections,” said Mbele adding that service delivery will be a top priority for them.
The party is expected to host the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial elective congress before the end of the year.
