A FORMER security guard, Eric Mfolozi opened a criminal charge against his former boss and a supervisor of a private security company in Kokstad last week.
Mfolozi accused the two men of beating him when he requested money for time worked after the company ended his contract .
“On July 17, the company supervisor told me that my contract has ended with no reasonable explanation.
“I then asked to be paid the money that I worked for however, instead of getting the money, I was asked to return the company uniform.
“I was then beaten by the supervisor and the company owner,” he said.
He added that people at the bus rank were watching during the assault.
“I felt humiliated — being assaulted by people who’s job is to fight crime and portray a good image to the public,” he said, adding that he was injured on his right hand, face, and his right leg. He received treatment at E.G. Usher Memorial Hospital in Kokstad.
SAPS KwaZulu-Natal spokesperson Colonel Thembeka Mbele confirmed a case of assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm was opened by Mfolozi.
“Mfolozi sustained injuries after he was allegedly assaulted with fists and an empty bottle.
“Two men, who are known, were arrested and appeared in the Kokstad Magistrate’s Court on July 20 and their case was remanded to August 22,” said Mbhele.
No response came forward after a Fever reporter contacted the security company for a comment.
