THE Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality has proven that it could be a leading destination in tourism, this after they hosted the United Kingdom Filmmakers, in partnership with KZN Film Commission, in showcasing Southern Drakensberg as a potential filming destination of choice to international filmmakers recently.
This is a trend of tourism where tourist attractions are being profiled as potential film shooting locations which can contribute immensely in local economic development, hence it benefits multiple sectors with spin-offs from agriculture, services industries, creative arts and the like. Some of the sites that were showcased were the Sani Pass 4x4 Route, the highest pub in Africa, Reichenau Mission, Gerard Bhengu Gallery and Museum in Centocow and the Sisonke Steam Train.
Dr Nkosazana Dlamini Zuma Municipality Tourism Manager Andile Zwezwe said the welcoming of the United Kingdom Filmmakers was held at Puckety Place Tea Garden and dinner was at Seaforth Country Lodge.
“We would also like to extend our gratitude to Southern Drakensberg Emerging Tour operators who conducted a safe tour of Sani Pass to our international guests,” said Zwezwe.
