A 48-YEAR-old woman from Kokstad was robbed of R5 000 after she attempted to withdraw money from an ATM on August 24.
SAPS spokesperson Captain Dumisani Ncongo said the woman was withdrawing money from the ATM when an unknown man grabbed her bank card under the guise of assisting her.
“The woman’s card jammed inside the ATM and another man asked her to insert her pin code in order to release the card,” said Ncongo.
After a few minutes, an SMS reported that R2 000 and R3 000 had been withdrawn from her account.
A case of fraud is being investigated by Kokstad SAPS.
No arrests have yet been made.
