KOKSTAD police closed illegal liquor stores during a three-day operation held in Kokstad town and townships. Police spokesperson Captain Dumisani Ncongo said dangerous weapons such as knives and drugs were also confiscated at the operations which ran from Friday to Sunday.
On Friday, police closed three illegal liquor stores in Kokstad and arrested eight people for public drinking at Horseshoe, Shayamoya and Groom Street.
On Sunday, three people were arrested for public drinking at Shayamoya and Bhongweni and one liquor store was closed in Horseshoe.
Those arrested for public drinking paid admission of guilt fines. The other individuals will appear in Kokstad Magistrate’s Court soon. — Supplied.
