MOUNT Fletcher Regional Court on Monday sentenced a 19-year-old man to 15 years’ imprisonment for the rape of a 12-year-old girl.
The victim was going home from school on June 13, 2017, when the man approached her and began flirting with her. When she refused his advances, he dragged her to a nearby river and raped her. She alerted her class teacher and police were informed.
On July 16, the court sentenced a 40-year-old man to 50 years’ imprisonment for the rape of two women, aged 20 and 25, on October 19, 2016. SAPS Captain Raphael Motloung said the women were sleeping in the same house when the incident occurred in Mount Fletcher.
“The man broke into the victims’ house, raped them and demanded their cellphones,” he said.
“The man was sentenced to 15 years imprisonment for count one of rape, 15 years for count two of rape, 10 years for housebreaking and 15 years for robbery,” Motloung said.
Police welcomed the sentence and thanked the investigating officers for their good work on the case. — Supplied.
