Science promoted in schools

GRADE 12 pupils who do physical science at Umzimkhulu schools were told about career opportunities at an event hosted to mark science week at DRC Senior Secondary in Umzimkhulu on August 2.

Speakers encouraged schools to teach physical science and pupils were told about opportunities in engineering, forensics, statistics, architecture and the Department of Education.

Zukiswa Petele, one of the pharmacists from Umzimkhulu, encouraged pupils to work hard to occupy the field of science. Maths advisors and graduates told pupils to be disciplined in school and love science. Grade 12 pupil Sisipho Ndlangisa, from Jozana Secondary, thanked speakers for their motivations.

Government departments such as the Department of Correctional Services, Department of Agriculture, Department of Environmental Affairs, Umzimkhulu Library, tertiary institutions, and private companies made presentations.

Philani Dlamini, who organised the event, thanked stakeholders for support.
