Shopkeeper held at gunpoint

A KOKSTAD woman who works as a shopkeeper at a local Spaza shop in Bhongweni was about to close the shop when she was allegedly held up at gunpoint by unknown men on August 14.

It was reported that the unknown men knocked on the shop door at 7pm and, when she opened the door, they held her up with a firearm and demanded money.

SAPS spokesman Captain Dumisani Ncongo said an undisclosed amount of money, cigarettes and other items were stolen and police are investigating a case of business robbery case.

He said police are investigating another case of business burglary after unknown men stole clothes and airtime from a Spaza shop in Shayamoya on August 17.

He said the total value of stolen items is estimated to be R3 075 and no arrests have been made.
