Show off your Gqom moves and you could be on TV

YOU could be the next dancing sensation and star in a television commercial.

South Africa’s most loved school shoe brand has just the thing for you. Toughees wants you to show us your best dance moves in their Toughees Move Maker competition. Are you ready to step up and express yourself? Then show us your moves and get noticed.

The winner of the Toughees Move Maker competition will star in the year-end Toughees television commercial where screens across South Africa will see just how much dance talent you have.

School children who are currently attending primary school are urged to show us their best dance moves — let Gqom music be your inspiration as you move to the rhythm in your Toughees school shoes.

“The Toughees Move Maker competition which launched on August 15 will run throughout August,” says Swastika Juggernath, Bata South Africa Marketing Manager.

“School yard activations will take place in schools across South Africa where World Hip-Hop champion Blake Williams will bust a move and teach dance to the new generation of kids. He is the perfect person to showcase the latest Gqom moves,” added Juggernath.

Gqom, which is native to South Africa, is a style of house music that features wavy and bass beats produced with a digital audio workstation. This style of house music is making waves around the world and resulted in a specific dance style known as the Gqom dance. Rihanna showed us her Gqom dance moves at the American Music Awards and more recently Gqom music featured on the Black Panther soundtrack. For this competition, Gqom music will serve as the inspiration to the entrant’s dance moves!

How to enter — individuals are urged to upload a video (no longer than 60 seconds) of themselves onto www.tougheesmovemaker.co.za showing off their dance skill in their Toughees school shoes jamming to the latest in Gqom music. Come on children of South Africa — step up, show us your moves and get noticed.
