GREETINGS TO NMZ PEOPLE
Once more we wish to report on what transpired since we last wrote. We are proud for what UMzimkhulu is today and what we aspire it to be in future. It seems that the future of UMzimkhulu is almost certain because we have started to ripen the fruits from the hardships that our forefathers and heroes endured.
It is correct to acknowledge their contribution so that the youth will follow suit in doing good things.
VISIT BY DSD MEC (WEZIWE THUSI) IN UMZIMKHULU
Indeed we felt very honoured to have the MEC for Department of Social Development (Weziwe Thusi) at the Ngwinjini sports field.
The MEC has addressed various issues which affect our people. She dealt with issues affecting SASSA offices such as long queues and precarious conditions in which our people have to adjust on day to day when they visit these offices.
We would be unfair if we ignore the contribution which is made by the current Manager Mr Mazibuko in SASSA.
We are noticing some positive outcomes after his arrival and we wish to give the collective courage and vigour to do more than what we are observing.
The MEC has shown her commitment in improving the situation, in particular the issues of the backlog. Of course our people will not immediately notice the impact of turning things around but eventually we shall get there.
The event went well with a magnitude of people present at the event. The mobilisation team did its task absolutely well.
TURF HANDING OVER BY SAFA

It was a busy week indeed; SAFA was with us here in UMzimkhulu for service delivery.
This becomes a predictable time when we observe that all departments are focusing on uMzimkhulu for services.
It is very much pleasing to work in this kind of atmosphere. SAFA handed over this artificial sport ground to the Municipality and SAFA local. As the Municipality we will engage SAFA local in terms of the use of the sports field.
We should preserve this unique asset from being vandalised. SAFA has placed it under the jurisdiction of the Municipality for proper maintenance.
SAFA has itself committed to invest more on the sports infrastructure in UMzimkhulu. This is an integral part of the 2010 FIFA World Cup legacy.

CAMPAIGN AT IBISI
The programme was well organised and the attendance was satisfactory. The deliberations were robust and we benefited a lot from the interaction.
This makes us proud that as the Municipality we really appreciate public scrutiny in all respects in order to sharpen our daily undertakings.
All issues were attended to with dignity and passion in order to stimulate the ratepayer’s involvement in the processes.
The clarifications had been made on significant aspects such as the status of Ibisi and service delivery issues. We thank the community of Ibisi for us giving time to explain ourselves in a more transparent way without any fear or favour.
The responsibility of the council is to ensure that the township is fully serviced and developed.
BUDGET OUTREACH 2012/2013
The programme has commenced with fair attendance that has been evident in these meetings at both Ntsikeni and Mountain halls.
People have expressed their gratitude on the issues entailed in the Budget and the miles that have been traversed in the call of changing the outlook of our town.
We anticipate the very same spirit that will hover in other zones. The joint programme with UMzimkhulu and Sisonke has been applauded by many people.
Our people are enthusiastic to support the programmes initiated by both municipalities. They are well vest on what Sisonke will be doing in the next financial year.
Layout scheme for UMzimkhulu town
We are grateful to report that the Department of Transport has finally approved our layout plan. The scheme is comprised of the sites that are here in town for disposal. We could not dispose any land parcel before we get comments from various stakeholders.
This means that we should now focus on the development of the sites by putting services and infrastructure. This project is being looked at desperately by our people who want to get residential sites in town.
