ESIGODINI Full Service School classes were suspended recently as the school has no water.

Pupils were given letters for their parents, which stated that the school faced a water crisis and that under given conditions and according to health regulations the school had to suspend classes at 11am.

The school urged parents to ensure that pupils took drinking water to school every day.

Echo reporter met with pupils who had been waiting to be fetched by their transport at Nichols Primary School in Edendale.

“The teachers told us that if there is no water at school pupils might faint and be sent to hospital due to dehydration. This is the first time the school has run out of water this year. Last year water outages were more frequent,” said one pupil.

An Esigodini Full Service School representative said the school normally experiences water outages around February and March. He said:

“We believe this was due to a burst pipe. The area in the vicinity of the school was also affected. However, municipality workers fixed the burst pipe and everything is back to normal.”
