This year’s visual arts exhibition of the Mangaung Art Fair (Maf) will be held from 22 to 24 September in Bloemfontein.
Although it mainly targets artists from within the Mangaung Metro, the exhibition also provides for visual artists from other parts of South Africa. It will make provision for 100 works in total.
“The exhibition will provide a snapshot into the life and times of the late former President Nelson Mandela, whose statue towers above Bloemfontein,” said Palesa Motsumi, spokesperson.
“This festival will endeavour to fuse the historical narratives of Bloemfontein with the contemporary South African art scene by representing the many cultures and languages that have descended on the Free State.”
Motsumi said the Mangaung Art Fair was necessary to access, celebrate and leverage diverse culture.
“This exhibition will be in the form a photographic look at the photographer as a collaborator in the process. We invite photographers and artists to submit their work.”
