Christina Nyaile-Maloka was crowned as Mrs Africa Universal 2019 at the Mrs Africa Continental pageant’s final round.
The crowning ceremony of the different category was held at the ATKV Buffelspoort Resort in the North West on 8 December.
Nyaile-Maloka (34) was one of the 12 finalists and was chosen by the judges as the winner. She was a finalist in the category for married women (25 to 40 years).
This is the first-ever pageant crown to be won by the Free State contestant.
“It is my first crown. With it, I am fulfilling my dream of being a voice for women and children,” she said.
She also received awards for the best cocktail dress and for displaying determination and perseverance throughout the competition.
“I put in a lot of work throughout this six-month journey, so I enjoy getting recognition.”
Nyaile-Maloka was the only contestant from the Free State having entered the pageant in KwaZulu-Natal.
She originates from Naledi Village in Qwaqwa. During her reign, she will be involved in a number of community empowerment programmes in Durban and in the Free State.
