A Ladybrand-based small supplier, MG Commodities, has scooped this year’s Small, Medium and Micro-sized Enterprises category of the Shoprite Supplier Awards held on 16 November in Cape Town.
Katleho Motsoasele is the owner and the general manager of the company.
He won the award for excellent service to Shoprite and Usave stores in Lesotho. The company was listed as a Shoprite supplier in 2015.
“Being Africa’s biggest retailer, Shoprite is a credible brand and that is why we wanted to do business with them,” said Motsoasele.
Early this year the company also received an award in Bloemfontein as sustainable entrepreneur.
Motsoasele’s advice to entrepreneurs who want to supply the retail group is to commit to good service and be consistent in the quality of its.
“Love your product, live the brand and be willing to improve and comply with the retailer’s standards,” he said.
Motsoasele said his plans for the future is to expand and to grow his business across South Africa with footprints firmly established in Lesotho and parts of the Free State.
