“I was so shocked as to how my son was butchered. I wish I knew what happened, but the person who we hoped could help with information, sheds no light.”
That was the plight from the Club 2000 father, Piet Swartbooi, whose son’s body was found in an open veld near the Vuyolwethu High School in Galeshewe on Sunday, 26 August.
According to Swartbooi, he last saw his son, Itumeleng Tshipe (26), on Saturday night, 25 August, when he said he was going to visit the mother of his two children.
“When he did not return, we were not concerned as he usually sleeps over.
“I left for work the following morning where I was called to rush back home as my son’s body was laying in the veld,” said the sad father.
According to police spokesperson, Sgt Majang Skalkie, the discovery was made by a group of boys playing in the veld at approximately 12:00 on the Sunday.
Skalkie stated the body was found with open wounds on the face and head.
Swartbooi said it seems to him like his son’s body was dumped there and that he was not killed on that scene.
Clueless on what had happened at the time of his murder, the family buried their son, who is also a father to a two-month-old baby, on Saturday (01/09).
The Club 2000 family and police are appealing to the community at large to assist with any kind of information that can lead to the arrest of the person who butchered Itumeleng to death.
A case of murder is being investigated by the police.
