The cash-strapped Tokologo Local Municipality in the Free State submitted a payment plan to Eskom for the settlement of the overdue debt for the bulk supply of electricity.
This ANC-led municipality avoided the interruption of bulk electricity supply by submitting the plan before the implementation of action on 3 August.
Eskom indicated that it will cautiously review the repayment plan and provide feedback by 17 August.
Furthermore, Eskom stated that it was ready to negotiate with the municipality on the payment of its debt.
This municipality is only one of the nine municipalities with huge debts over millions of rands to the power supplier.
