The police’s Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Unit in Galeshewe is appealing to the community of Roodepan to assist in tracing a suspect who allegedly sexually assaulted an 11-year-old girl.
The incident reportedly happened on Tuesday, 15 May, at about 16:00 when the victim was waiting alone at the Barkly West Road for a taxi to Roodepan.
A taxi stopped and she boarded it.
However, the driver allegedly failed to stop at the agreed destination.
“It is alleged that the driver did not stop. Instead he drove with the victim to Jacksonville shacks, where he allegedly touched the young girl on her private parts,” said police spokesperson, Sgt Majang Skalkie.
According to Skalkie the suspect is a coloured male aged 70 to 75 years old, slender build and dark in complexion.
“We humbly appeal to the community if they have any information that may assist regarding the incident or the suspect.”
