Gender based violence, sexual offences and sexual harassment in the workplace were highlighted as the SAPS hosted its women at a conference on 20 August.
Speakers gave motivational talks.
Women were encouraged to join the Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences units, where their passion for children and solving family related incidents is needed. That, according to Maj. Gen. Henriette De Waal, deputy provincial commissioner in the Northern Cape, is an opportunity for women to take their place in the workplace and society.
“We value and cherish the women in our homes and different employee platforms. Look after yourself and each other and advance in life,” said Lt. Gen. Peter Shivuri, Commissioner for the Northern Cape.
