Star shows potential

Jaco Human (9), a Gr. 4 learner of the Staats Primary School, has been chosen as July’s winner of the Express Northern Cape and Let’s Play Sports Start of the Month competition.

He has shown great potential in athletics, rugby and wrestling.

Jaco played rugby throughout the year and participated in matches in Hopetown and Jacobsdal. He also played against the Duineveld Primary School on his home ground at the Staats Primary School.

Jaco has been wrestling for three years. Last year he was named as the Northern Cape regional champion in the 30 kg category.

He is now wrestling for the Phoenix wrestling club, and participated in the Indlovu tournament on 21 July where he took the bronze medal.

On 18 August, Jaco will compete in a wrestling tournament in Bloemfontein, and will also take part in the South African regional championship in Klerksdorp on 1 September.

In athletics, Jaco qualified for the final of the 1 500 m event in Athletics Northern Cape’s tournament.

Jaco’s motto is: “I can and I will”.

  • More on the Let’s Play initiative:

SuperSport has evolved as the quintessential sporting authority.

With such strong sporting influence within the South African market, SuperSport has been perfectly poised to harness this power and rally the public and corporates to truly make a difference in society.

SuperSport identified huge issues severely inhibiting the development of children through skills learned by playing, physical education and sport – all of which are imperative to the holistic development of young people.

It was from this insight that Let’s Play was born in November 2005 with the aim of encouraging play, activity and sport in schools.
