THE Foundation Phase hosted another successful Grandparents’ Day recently.
Over 200 people attended and the morning kicked off with a concert by the pre-school children where they sang and danced. This was followed by a delicious tea and there was an expectant buzz in the hall.
Our grandparents were very generous and donated towards sandpit toys and playground equipment.
After their tea, our guests were entertained by a concert performed by the Junior Primary children. The theme was a walk down Disney memories. There were some real old favourite songs, like A spoonful of sugar.
The proceedings were hosted capably by Neo Leeuw and Medha Aheer.
After this delightful interlude, the grandparents moved to the various classrooms to spend some quality time with their grandchildren. This is a very special time for the children, where they get to “show off” their work, read to granny or brag about their art on the walls.
As the dust settles on another successful Grandparents’ Day, we reflect on the important role that the older generation plays in the life of the youth of today. Here at Wembley we value the importance of family.
