“CHOOSE a job you love and you will never have to work a day in your life.”
I am not sure who is the author of that famous quote, but I can tell you that the author knew exactly what he or she was talking about.
Ever since I was in high school, all I ever wanted to be was a journalist, and after 12 years in the industry, I am more than pleased to introduce myself to you as the editor of the Greytown Gazette.
I studied journalism at Varsity College and began my career in my home town, Port Shepstone, in 2006.
I joined the South Coast Fever in 2011 and have been a part of the Media24 Local News team ever since.
A promotion to editor of Maritzburg Fever and Maritzburg Echo in 2017 then led the way to Pietermaritzburg where I currently reside.
Believe it or not, I am still battling to adjust to the extreme heat and cold and I hear that Greytown is worse! It’s a good thing I’m always up for a challenge and with Greytown being right around the corner, I will be visiting on a regular basis — getting to know you and of course exploring all the history and uncovering the hidden gems that the town has to offer.
I will be bringing along with me my open mind and a willingness to learn about everything important to the people of Greytown.
You can look forward to the regular good stuff that you’re used to, but I intend to “jazz” up the paper a bit.
You will see in the editions to come.
Get ready to read more profiles which we can all learn and gain inspiration from; and news features which will keep you informed.
My passion has always been in community newspapers — it’s in my heart and I can’t wait to share that passion with you.
