Mayor uplifts Umvoti primary school

UMVOTI Municipality, carrying through the Mandela legacy, on Sunday visited Umziwenkosi Primary School to change the lives of the pupils and teachers there.

The school, which is in Ward 12, was identified as one of the neediest ones in the area when the mayor visited the ward during the IDP road show.

The school was in an extremely dire state, with three classrooms standing unused due to a collapsed roof.

The mayor, alongside municipal officials, then embarked on a fundraising drive in order to ensure the speedy refurbishment of the school.

Accompanied by the Salga NEC, who donated school uniforms, food parcels and an SBS water tank, municipal officials, led by the mayor, had a productive day which saw them refurbishing the roof, fitting new doors and windows, and painting classrooms.
