Greytown High’s Interhouse Athletics proved once again to be a day of showcasing talent.
Athletes ran, jumped and pumped their hearts out to collect points for their house.
But no stars shone as brightly as Akhona Mathonsi and Siyabulela Xulu.
These two champions broke five records between them; one of the records being set 50 years ago!
This many records have not been broken at an Interhouse in decades, with the usual number of records broken at the meeting being one or two.
Mathonsi broke both the U19 Girls’ 100m and 200m records; whilst Xulu broke the boys’ U16 triple jump, long jump and 200m records.
We look forward to seeing what they are capable of during the rest of the season.
Mathonsi and Xulu , together with talented their Grey House team-mates, steadily raked in points, clinching a win for Grey. Both won the spirit cup.
