SUPPORT, care, and love are at the top of list for Umvoti Municipality for its residents.
This was evident on Monday, December 10, when Umvoti Municipality, hand-in-hand with the Department Of Arts and Culture, hosted 400 senior citizens at a Christmas imbizo at the Greytown Town Hall.
The elderly people were afforded the opportunity to engage local and national leadership on issues of social cohesion and 16 Days of Activism as well as challenges they come across in their communities.
The golden oldies were treated to a lunch as well as various gifts while listening to melodic tunes.
In addressing the attendees, Mayor Thamsanqa Ngubane stressed the importance of ensuring the safety of young children as well as senior citizens, this after reports of attacks on senior citizens in the area.
The day was a huge success with senior citizens expressing their gratitude to both the municipality and the department.
