SATURDAY morning started with wet and cold weather and with the old style plastic rain gauges, we measured 22mm of rain but with Dr Kloppers electronic type weather station, much less was measured.
The problem with the two types of rain gauges, a very large Great Dane type dog has access to the rain gauge vicinity, and that could be the reason for the discrepancy between the two gauges.
However the three golfers that tee’d off at eight in the Farmer’s Agri-Care Monthly Mug, braved the elements, cold temperatures, southerly wind conditions and the great Dane dog and the rain that still occurred at that time. Golfers who tee’d off at eleven missed the rainy conditions and had an enjoyable round. The sun broke through at times but hid away again and the wind died down.
Marc Scott playing in the first three balls, had to get a new set of clothing after slipping and submersing one leg into the creek and looked very cold and wet coming into the clubhouse.
The OB’s (not out of bounds) refreshment kept their hopes up to only return the stableford score but wasn’t enough as Mike Harrison won the best Stableford points section on 30 points.
