St. David’s celebrated Library Week this week. On Tuesday each class read quietly for 20 minutes to discover that reading is “dreaming with eyes open”. A group visited the Greytown Library on Wednesday for first-hand experience of a public library.
Thank you, Greytown Library staff, for welcoming our group and showing them all the exciting things the library has to offer.
The children learnt that reading a library book can take you to new and wonderful places that you have never been to before.
They were shown how to look after books so they do not become dirty and torn, and how to join the library. Then on Thursday everyone, including the teachers, used their imagination and came to school dressed as a character starting with the first letter of their name. Everyone had a lot of fun guessing the character and admiring each other’s costumes.
We thank the parents for their enthusiasm and for assisting the children with the outfits. — Supplied.
