UMSHWATHI Municipality held a meeting for all men living in uMshwathi with the aim of discussing the challenges faced by them.
The gathering was attended by uMshwathi leadership, traditional leadership led by Inkosi Gcumisa of Swayimane, pastors led by Rev. Ndlovu, government departments, and other stakeholders.
Municipal manager Nhlanhla Mabaso commended all employees of uMshwathi for having a good record, stating that he had never received any reports of an employee involved in abuse or violence.
“I would also like to encourage all men gathered here to support campaigns for crime prevention. We have to work together with SAPS to report criminals and criminal activities taking place in our areas. This is the way to show that we love and care for our families” said Mabaso.
Deputy mayor of uMshwathi councillor Promise Dlamini condemned all kind of domestic violence associated with men.
“We don’t want to find any men abusing women and children,” said Dlamini, advising men to make use of the existing structure of men’s forums to report their challenges so that they can obtain the support required.
Members of the community requested the leadership of uMshwathi and officials to ensure that all the programmes, issues, and resolutions discussed in the men’s forums are monitored and implemented.
