IT was with great sadness to hear of the passing of Ms. Litterick, someone I spent very little time with over the last few years, yet one who managed to make a sound impression on me.
Courageous and accommodating, strong (yet not above the occasional apology), Ms. Litterick’s overseeing of the Gazette gave us something the people of Greytown are truly proud of.
More than just a glorified noticeboard of the goings-on in the community, the paper was, under her guidance, an indispensable part of our week.
And, as the next phase of the Gazette leadership ushers itself in, my hope is that the paper continues to remind us that as important as it is to bind the community together, it’s also important to exercise our costly South African privilege to question authority.
There is now a great, silent and deep void in the Gazette office, and to whoever takes her place, know that in it awaits you some very big shoes to fill.
