WITH Literacy Day being celebrated on September 8, Fever caught up with Hillcrest High School grade 11 pupil Priyashnee Reddy, who’s passionate about reading.
Priyashnee claims that reading has not only shaped her academic life, but also given her a love for debating and reflecting on issues affecting today’s youth.
“I love books that make people think outside of their comfort zones,” she said.
She encouraged pupils to always read as it will help them explore a whole new world.
The head of the Media Centre at the school, Liz Gomes, said that, at Hillcrest High, they believe in books and developing a healthy love of reading. “If you visit us during either of our lunch breaks, you will see our media centre is always full,” added the head of the media centre proudly.
