EARLY last week, Hillcrest Crime Prevention members received information with regards to a premises in Kwangcolosi which reportedly contained unlicensed firearms.
Hillcrest SAPS communications officer Captain Linzi Smith said, at around 1 am, the members proceeded to an address that was pointed out to them: “Upon arrival at the house, they established that the suspect unfortunately had already fled.”
Even though the suspect had fled, she said that the crime prevention members proceeded to search the house where they recovered a home-made firearm.
“We welcome such recoveries as most of our serious related cases involve the use of firearms,” she said.
“Those who might have information about any criminal activities that are happening shouldn’t hesitate to contact the police,” said Smith.
The public can get in contact with Captain Linzi Smith at 031 765 9124.
