HILLCREST High congratulated their 2018 matriculants on achieving another excellent set of results. The school’s marketing and public relations spokesperson, Nicky Kidgell, said they are indeed proud of the staff and of their parents, all of whom play a critical role in nurturing and supporting the pupils.
“Our Matric Class of 2018 achieved an excellent pass rate of 99.49%. There were 211 distinctions, with our top two achievers getting 18 of those. A further five students achieved seven distinctions each,” said Kidgell.
She further said that, for the first time, they had pupils writing the Advanced Programme Mathematics examination, administered by the Independent Examinations Board. She added that all five pupils; Laurie Aucamp, Natalie Fortmann, Alex Küsel, Medha Shukla, and Michaela Solomon; passed well and, as their teacher Mrs Knight said, they are extremely proud of their achievements.
Some of the top individual performers included Laurie Aucamp (nine distinctions), Mandy Pitchers (nine distinctions), Joanna Sprighton (seven distinctions), Alexandra Pretorius (seven distinctions), Michaela Solomon (seven distinctions), Natalie Fortmann (seven distinctions), Bianca Jaglal (seven distinctions), Alex Küsel (six distinctions), Breeze-Tae Morrell (six distinctions), Teag Theron (six distinctions), Medha Shukla (six distinctions), Jamie Fourie (six distinctions), and Nompilo Khoza (six distinctions).
Hillcrest High School Headmaster Craig Girvin said that their 2018 matrics have done themselves, their teachers, and their families proud, saying: “Particular thanks to the staff and their parents for nurturing and guiding these students to do their best and to embrace our motto ‘If it is to be, it is up to me’. We hope they will continue to adopt this philosophy as they pursue their future goals and we extend to them very best wishes as they do so.”.
