WATERCREST Mall, together with Watercrest stores and selected suppliers, undertook a local upliftment project during the month of July, in remembrance of Madiba.
Local Pre-School Sthandokuhle, in Kwa-Ngcolosi, was highlighted by local non-profit organisation Focus on iThemba as being in need.
Upon visiting the premises, the team decided they could make an meaningful difference to the baby area, toilet facilities and playground to allow for more opportunities for joy and play for the 95 children who attend the school.
“Our project included repainting and soft flooring for the baby crèche, painting and fixing the children’s toilets as well as repairing their playground equipment,” explained Elizabeth Roux.
However, that wasn’t all. To bring even more joy to the day, Watercrest Mall purchased all new outdoor play toys, as well as some new tables and chairs for the older children’s classrooms.
“Thanks to donations, we were also able to put on a lovely lunch, the kiddies thoroughly enjoyed their Panarottis pizza and each received a full sweetie bag from What’s Cooking. In addition there were also books, stationery, toiletries, toys and clothes donated to the pre-School. Teamwork makes the dream work and, in saying this, Watercrest Mall would like to extend special thanks to the following Watercrest Stores and suppliers for making this dream a reality — Bargain Books, Panarottis, What’s Cooking, Ster Kinekor (toys), Wimpy (toys), Perfect 10 (toys), Waterfall Superspar (fruit), Torga Optical (toiletries), MDK Painters (paint), Dj Thermal (toiletries), Gillitts Hardware (sand pit), Express Marketing and LivClean.”
