SOUTH African cyclists are gearing up to take on the surreal surroundings of Storms River at the 2018 Glacier Storms River Tra-verse.
With entries almost sold out, the three-day stage race, which takes place from August 10 to 12, has fast become a favourite for families in particular. Instead of the tiresome slog that often comes with competitive racing, riders will get to enjoy the splendour of South Africa’s renowned trails.
The daily distances include a manageable 40km to 65km and offer sections that meander along the Storms River Mouth coastline.
Staying true to the ‘difference’ that Glacier events offer, is a race village that blurs the line between amateur rider and pro.
Helena Ferreira, Marketing Manager at Glacier by Sanlam, who has been involved with the sponsorship since inception, said that the Glacier Storms River Traverse is more than just a mountain bike race. “It gives families a chance to enjoy the long-weekend together, and also gives us a chance to connect with some of our supporters. We pride ourselves on providing world-class service and experiences, and this event gives us an opportunity to do just that.”
Little adventurers are welcomed to join in on the action too. While parents charge down epic dirt roads, children can play to their heart’s delight under supervision at the Tsitsikamma Village Inn.
